I bottom fish for food, usually about 1 or 2 lbs sometimes, rarely,  up to 10 to 15 Lbs. Crokers, triggers and snappers etc. with cut bait. I never cared about BIG fish.  I bought at walmart. Just got the biggest spinning rig  they have $35...Lots of Sinkers and hooks. My 1st rig lasted over 8 years of heavy fishing and caught a lot of fish .

Which ever rigs you get, rinsing the reel (all gear ideally) with fresh water after each use will extend the life of the gear by years.
