Over the objections of the Sec of Health for Sonora, the federal government has lowered the Covid warning indicator for Sonora, even though we had a record number of deaths and hospitals remain full. 18 states remain in red and 14, including Sonra are Orange as you can see on the map in the posted link.

Schools will start internet classes in August, so the last of July is the last hurrah for the Mexican tourists before moms go back to being school teachers and teenagers can no longer associate with the opposite gender.

The Federal government clearly needs some beer and hotel IVA, and to me this is very similar to what Trump's administration promoted in Florida, Texas, Az and Orange county in Ca.

I have my state government contacts checking today to see if the Port Captain will make a change regarding boat activity in the marina.

Makes no sense. The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.

Bottom line, the pandemic is here to stay...

if you open the pasted article scroll down to the comments, many are saying people should be fined for not wearing masks. fining is being used in Columbia.

that would be a source of income, for the depleted coffers.

Article about 3 tourists walking outside in San Miguel de Allende. They were told to put masks on. 1 did. 2 refused and those 2 were fined 500 pesos and placed in custody for 12 hours.
This what is needed here.

Agree with a high fee, but not with incarceration. Tell them the fee is what they have to pay for a mask. Give them masks and ask them to put them on or be taken to jail. Guess what they will pickup while in jail? Going to jail in Mexico is scary enough, even for the ignorant...

They were told by the police to put masks on. People entering the city are told they need masks and masks are offered to them for free.
"Officials have been asking those entering the city limits the purpose of their visit, taking car occupants’ body temperature, reminding people of the legal obligation to wear masks in the city, and offering a free mask to those who say they don’t have one"

I agree - and also for the locals.

proper use of masks should also be encouraged. i don't know how many times i have seen people with masks on only covering their mouth, their noses sticking out like a sore thump.

the beaches of San Carlos will be opened. there is no official declaration from the municipality of Guaymas, but the same chest thumping gorilla and directer of OVC "Office of Visitors and Conventions" has announced the opening of the beaches on Facebook. the hours that beaches are allegedly to be open are from 06:00 to 18:00, 6:00 am to 8:00 pm.

being in orange also allows for restaurants and bars to operate at 50% capacity.

in reality;
the health directer of the State of Sonora, continues to warn we are in the high alert of RED, he asks all Sonorans to practice, all the sanitary procedures, wearing of masks, physical social distancing, washing of hands, stay at home. to be responsible.

Air conditioned movie theaters, bars and restaurants sound a lot more concerning than open air venues in parks to me.

And spending the night in a hotel room would be even worse if the previous guests had kids that used a busy pool.

i doubt many would argue with all of post #12 and now consider the flood gates are now open.
the adherence to code red was a joke.

i have always felt if you are going to do it, do it right or don't do it at all.
that was not the case in the sanitary requirements requested, of the past months.

we are in a far more precarious position now, than we where months ago.

all our sacrifice was in vain.

well now it's official, the mayor of the municipality has declared the beaches in Guaymas and San Carlos open today, the caveat is no drinks will be allowed, masks and physical distancing required.

who is going to enforce this, since there was not enough able body personnel to man the road block?
