I have noticed that SC and Miramar are getting an unusual number of brush fires lately.

In the last year, we have had 4 around Solimar, the one by Froggy's, and 2 very recent ones on Justo Sierra in Miramar.

The Boat yard fire last year, and the 2 Maquilla buildings that burned this morning on the way into Guaymas do not seem related.

But it might be a good idea to keep an eye out for arsonists or for young fire bugs, just in case.

Another fire was put out on Justo Sierra in Miramar. That makes 3 on that street in less than 3 weeks that I know of.

For anyone inclined to help support the volunteer firefighters group that Enrique (SC Comisario) is working on here in San Carlos: ➡️Kindly send US tax deductible donations via PayPal through the San Carlos Foundation link here. ➡️Make a note that it is for "Firefighters" and it will go towards the volunteer firefighting needs in San Carlos. Thank you! https://sancarlosfoundation.com/donations/

Here is his post from last week, you can also donate specific items or cash in person at the commissary office if you like:

Last Friday we had a  fire in San Carlos, Guaymas firefighters were asked for help and they were busy in another fire and they couldn't send anyone to support us, the police had to do the work with All the elements in charge of the Cmdt. Eduardo González, with the help of a private pipe, managed to control the fire, they finished in the rescue so they could put oxygen on them, they really did an excellent job, we have a first respondent firefighter truck who was lent to us by Hermogas since last year, but we didn’t have experienced volunteers. On Monday, experienced firefighters approached to create a group of first responders.

And we started operating the first respondent and today we had our first call, I think it is fair and necessary to have volunteer firefighters.

That is why today we are asking for help of our residents to obtain equipment to fight the fires and we are looking for a donation of equipment as well as volunteers from San Carlos, the equipment that we need are: shovels-rakes - gloves-uniforms- UHF radios - Mobile radio- base and portable radio-tool box-tools - gas bottles - helmets and much more. ➡️ For more information at the San Carlos comisaria from 9 am to 2 pm, help us to help you 💪🏼

I remember when a lot of equipment and a truck were donated to San Carlos, from our sister city, and Guaymas took everything to Guaymas. Be careful....

And it will repeat itself...There are many expat Firemen and Fire Buffs that have lived in SC over the years...they were dedicated to this same effort, and as LTR has stated, the good stuff shows up in SC and Guaymas rips it off. The Firefighters that could get this done now.....won't, been ripped two many times..

MountianBike, do you have any idea what the equipment you are asking for costs? Starting from scratch a FD costs a small fortune....all the while the commisario is asking for financial help keeping his business afloat.....maybe it is time it is realized the northern cash cow is out of milk!!
