the Governor of Sonora has made an agreement with CFE to subsidize in 72 municipalities of Sonora the electric bill, from May 1 to October 31.
this is an attempt to help the people of Sonora in this time of isolation!

Thanks Frank. I have been looking for this after a story broke that only Obregon and Hermosillo would get the subsidy. Good news.

here is an other article in Opinion! both articles reveal the strategy as "temporarily" suspending the TARIFF from the "de alta consumo" "DAC", enacted this time of year!!

As I read this it look to me like for the 6 months we switch from rate 1E to rate 1F.

Right, but as the article says, if you use too much juice, you will really see a large penalty, and no subsidy This aimed more at helping the poor folks and prehaps at saving energy while it so cheap to export.

Mexico is now getting a $6 billion insurance kick back because they hedged on higher oil price guarantees against these low oil prices, so this will make the subsidy announcement more of a political boon for them, while Pemex and CFE still profit on the "lower Priced" juice.

We continue to pay higher fuel costs in Mexico as he continues to give money away to the folks in the towns that steal pipeline fuel, the cartel also continue to steal fuel, so this is one more nuance in his master strategy to get the rich to pay the poor more, imo.

Anti corruption is his battle cry and feels it is the number one key to also helping with the current pandemic.

Interesting political strategy to try and get his party reelected after a recession imo.

Boy, did I get off subject. Sorry.

Same as every year that I can remember, but with the usage penalty.

people have already started using their cooling units!
i am fortunate to have high 11 foot ceilings in my home. i am still practicing a conservation regime, i started for my self years ago. it is undeniable that the days are getting warmer, but the evenings and early mornings are cool!  my practice is simple and basic, around 9:00 pm i open certain windows in the house and have my ceiling fans on! the cool air is circulated, at sun up i close the windows allowing my house to remain cool all day, until i repeat the process!
the HEAVY period being August and September.
the efforts of the Governor will be really appreciated when we start getting our electric bills!
please note; we in San Carlos pay our electric bills every 2 months! in Guaymas they pay monthly! the KW hours we generate in the first month will be added to the following month pay period! the amount you use will be calculated in the pricing tier you end up in!
be conservative!

My electric bills for the past years have shown a rate of 1E ro the summer. If it switches to 1F as it states then it is an increased discount. However, a few years ago it was also going to switch which never happened.

What changes is the tiers what the rate go up.
-------------------1E-- 1F---- Pesos
First xx KWH/mo 300 300---- .613
Next xx ----------450 900---- .774
Next xx ----------150 1300-- 1.008
All over this amount----------- 2.976

Big saving if you use a lot.

I received our CFE bill and the rate was still 1E not 1F.  So, NO SAVINGS

Yes, the government subsidy is for the next 6 months.  What it appeared that they announced was that all of Sonora would now use rate 1F instead of the lower 1E.  Hopefully this also happens with the next bill.

When I paid our electric bill online today using our CI Banco Visa debit card, I was given the option to have our payments in the future made with this card. CFE then followed up with an email to confirm that payments would now be automatically with that debit card.

I don't know if this is a new option or I just missed it before, but it's a great option.

I find it interesting that my last bill was for about $480 pesos and this one is almost $1200 pesos. I haven't been home for the entire time and the a/c is shut off. The only lights on are four security lights (three only work at night and two are triggered by movement) and the only other power is for the four security cameras.
