Has anyone crossed into the States recently by car ?  There are some horror stories of 8 and 10 hour wait times as asylum seekers storm the vehicle gates..

We have friends that were forced to cross on Sunday after T-giving at mid-day and they had a 3.5 hour wait. Not unexpected for that day, I guess.

They made no mention of asylum seekers,

Crossed Sunday 9am Sentri no wait except about 5 min blocked by cars backed up in the regular lanes before Sentri lane start. BP agents guarding the openings. Tuesday AZ Star front page said Monday wait times 5 hours because of asylum seekers running through the car lanes. Fewer lanes open because agents are needed to guard the lanes instead of doing cars. Also said some were from Russia ans some were from Venezuala. Some of them purchased old cars in Nogales, drove them through inspection and demanded asylum.

What a pain! But, as the one guy said, there typically is only three lanes open at Mariposa coming from Highway 15. I never cross at DeConcini.

Everyone who lives in some third world piss-tank thinks that if they can just make it into the United States all their problems are over...Professional Coyotes start and promote these rumors and then charge the would be emigrants dearly to dump them into the hands of the Border Patrol and immigration agents where their dreams come to an abrupt and sad ending..As a side effect, the tourism industry in Mexico is all but destroyed..

BS, you just missed the fun...I got to Mariposa at 3:20. The line from Nogales centro was all the way to the Oxxo where the pedestrian crossing is. I got through at 6:10. I had the same experience and 2;45 on Tuesday.

Mid day on Sundays is usually the worst time to cross.

Bonuses will start being paid to the Mexican work force the end of this week.  They will all be heading to the border to do their Christmas shopping.  If there aren't additional lanes opened by the US, this Saturday through December 22nd may be record wait times.

I walked over at Naco this morning, cars backed up as far as I could see, and when returning, talked to CBP and they said about 3 hours lately. Not sure if that is Xmas shopping, leftover weekend traffic, or the overflow he said was coming from Aqua Prieta and Nogales. Normal Naco, non weekend, is typically 5 minutes.
