As the subject says.
I am very flexible on time driving from San Carlos.  If week day also crucial - please indicate.
Many thanks!

Crossing south to north, I am a HUGE believer in crossing on a Sunday at the Mariposa crossing; if the Mariposa crossing qualifies as a Nogales crossing for you.

This crossing is closed to trucks on Sunday, so you avoid the sometimes horrid truck lineup that can actually block the auto lane entrances. The trucks dont start lining up until Sunday evening.

I have known several people who have been blocked by this lineup and have had to double back to the Nogales Downtown crossing route and cross downtown.

Sometimes, if the truck lineup is there, you can actually DRIVE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD (YES, I HAVE DONE THIS TWICE, ALONG WITH OTHER CARS) until a converging of the trucks allows you to re-enter the auto lane. These instances were on a day where I could NOT cross on a Sunday.

We generally leave around 0600 (or earlier) on a Sunday from San Carlos and have found that IF you get to the border before 11am, you usually have a border wait of no more than a half hour (not including any secondary inspection). Many times, it is less. This assumes it is NOT a holiday weekend.

I like leaving San Carlos about 5 am, any weekday.  Arrive at the border at 9 am, usually a 15 minute wait to cross at Mariposa.

Here is the link to the web cams for both Mariposa and DeConcini crossings.  You can monitor them any day of the week to see how the lines are at any given time, then make your decision.

Well, I can’t get the link to paste, but you can copy and paste the address into your browser.

I generally try to cross around 12am any day other than Friday night/Saturday morning or Saturday night/Sunday morning. The only time I had more than a 2 minute wait was during the Christmas holiday time. Then it was a 15 minute wait. When I crossed during more normal hours I found Sunday before 9am to be a good time also.

I too, hate waiting in line to cross.
