I think it's great. Richard Baca posted a little history of the boat on the other forum. Many name changes for a boat built in late 40's, many re fits and upgrades and rebuilds along the way. Was the boat involved in the sinking of the liner Andrea Doria in the mid 50s for those old enough to remember (me). Ron

That's great. I shared your link with some of my 'snowbird' neighbors. They're always looking for something to do.
Happy Holidays,
Steve

Not only that, but the Astoria was the ship that sank the Andria Doria in 1956.  She was named Stockholm at that time.
Here’s a pic of her after the collision...repair costs were $1 million USD

Good point IronMan, I'd rather cruise on a 52' Junk rigged Schooner... Which I was lucky

enough to be able to do back in the early 80's with 3 newly made friends. 6 on 6 off.We had a great time. Even when the anchor got 'stuck in the mud' when Jon had other

things to do.

thanks

Thank you... I've forwarded it to my Canadian 'snowbird' neighbors.

Thanks Marigot... That's interesting. It seems some ships have a longer shelf life the we do.

I'm a 'landlubber' now... But fortunate to have Tomas to send me the occasional photo of days gone by.

Steve
