Is there a setting to keep the computer from sourcing Mexican links when it is in Mexico?

As an example, I want msn.com, not be switched to msn.com/es-mx to pop up when I type in msn.com.

The way I understand it, Results of Internet searches are based on one’s IP address. Searches from a Mexican IP address will result in Mexican site links.

Using a VPN with a setting for a city in the USA usually avoids that.  An IP address in the USA will usually return search results for the USA or other English speaking countries

Here is another option for you encase you do not have a VPN.

Use http://www.bing.com as your search engine instead of google. Once you are at http://www.bing.com, click on the three bars in the upper right hand corner, the select "settings" and change the "country/region" to USA.

You will notice your search results show USA links!!!!

I was looking for a setting that would block all servers from finding my location, but I think I would have to set up a separate vpn.

The only way to do that is with a VPN.  You want a VPN which blocks webRTC (look it up) as if the VPN or your browser doesn't block it (some browsers allow you to change this in settings) they can still find your location.

Bullshipper, that problem has been bothering me for quite a while, but not enough that i actually did anything about it. Your post got me to thinking that the time is NOW. Especially when I want to search a product to buy and I click on a link to that product that is shown to be at Walmart. But, I am sent to Walmart.com.mx.

I tried https://www.opera.com/computer/features/free-vpn

It is a web browser that includes free vpn. After downloading it and opening it you have to search for the menu item that turns on the VPN. I just did it, tested it, and it works great.

Don- thanks for your knowledge and solid advice- quick and easy to load, and everything else I have works great too. Problem solved.

i am extremely cautious of using anything that is offered for free!
what are they, who are they, where are they, what are they getting????

i once had a problem with microsoft, went on line. to find them . talked to the guy, he went directly into my computer. i was charge a fee,IT WAS THEN I FOUND OUT IT WAS NOT MICROSOFT.
look up social security, there are sites online that look like the real thing but are NOT!
since i live here full time, i do 99% of my NOB banking online!
i personally can't jeopardize my banking!
