In 2016 I hauled my 5th wheel down for several weeks and hauled it back.  At the K21 turn- in booth, I was told to keep the permit in case I came back into Mexico with the trailer.  Well, I sold it sometime ago, and tried to turn in the permit, but was told by Banjercito I needed to have Banjercito take a photo of the vin number.  Not going to happen as the trailer was sold to folks in Washington state.  And I was told I can not get another TIP until the old one is canceled.  I wanted to bring my newer 5th wheel down but  not sure what to do.  Catch 22 Mexican style! Any ideas?

It's an interesting dilemma that I have no answer for. But, surely, Banjercito has had this happen in the past. Go ask about it at the office in Guaymas.

I am in AZ and tried the Banjercito in Naco! Nogales might be better but only if I know the trip there (90 minutes or so) would be worth it.

Bring the new trailer with your wife as the importer of record instead of you.

If you go to Banjercito, have the new owner take the picture, send it to your email, then print and include same with your tip permit paper work and current Az registration.

Thanks for the help.  No wife!  And the RV was sold 23 months ago, and it might be a challenge to find the owners...if they still own it!

This happened to myself 5 years ago. Not sure if the rules have changed.
I had a Silverado which I failed to cancel my permit. I thought I would be back. I ended up selling it. When I drove my van down, I was not able to get the TIP. I had to go KM 21 and get a form they had. It would need to be filled out and attached supporting documentation of the sale. this needed to be sent to Mexico City thru DHL. It would be 3 months later before I received the cancellation of the permit. Yes, if you are married and the spouse is on the title, you can still get the permit that way. I wish I still had the form but I got it from the Immigration Office Stand at KM 21. You might try the Mexican Consulate to see if they have that form. Either way a big pain. Lesson Learned.

I have proof from my buyer that the RV was sold and titled in Washington State, but she sold it and can not find the owner!  I am hoping that if I can show that it was sold, the TIP will get canceled.  And if i drive down with another RV and stop at K21, taking a chance I guess.

We just cancelled a boat and trailer permit, and no picture was required. Had to have current AZ registration and the title signed over to new owner prior to going to Banjercito en Guaymas.
