Not sure a topic like this is something that Bart wants on his forum, but if itsok, I would like to hear any reasonable ideas to help solve the problems at the border.

I personally feel that we have to modernize current immigration laws to reflect the increased pressure our country id under to provide a safe haven and a higher standardard of living to those who want to enter or country and workforce.

This will probably sound harsh, but we have to stop the  excess of immigrants at our borders as this is our problem. If we stop them and they still come through Mexico, then they are Mexico's problem imo.

Trump wants to do something, so I ask if it would be a good idea to do some of this in the short term to see what effect it has on the numbers of people that try to cross ilegally.

Can he use executive orders to put in place temporary regulations, like:

1. Limiting the number of total cases our courts have to investigate- its already in the 100 of 1000's.
2. Limit the number of people per year actually admitted, eligible or not.
3. Suspend the automatic wet foot eligibility instructing the cbc to immediately detain and escort illegals back to the place they crossed if they want their freedom with a one time ration of free food and water.
4. Stiffen penalties for coyotes to a 1st time, not 3 strike sentencing basis.

Not trying to start a flame war, just trying to collect some possible concrete actions.

We have spent trillions of dollars fighting wars in far away lands so we don't have to fight them here. The aid being given to countries like Honduras was not welfare, it was to assist them in fighting gangs and drug dealers. That money has now been withdrawn. The situation is so desperate there that people will take enormous risks to escape. These are human beings. Help them combat the extortion from gangs there and the immigration problem goes away.

I hear you, but the fact is that giving them money and sending people to help is not working. It tears me up that women and children are being terrorized, but they have family and police there too.

I am not saying we shouldn't try to help where we can, but what can Trump do at our borders this week, not in far off lands.

A wise Old Sage once said "Never rescue a Maiden who owns a Dragon Ranch"..We do not have the Capacity to take in All of those needing help.

I like "Get your Own House in Order first" We should take care of poor legal US Citizens and Veterans 1st.

Here is the pm that Jimmy sent me.

California Liberals should form a self funded rescue group to Save those people and NOT ask for My Tax dollars to do it.

Maybe you could go down there and hold hands with the poor and sing Kumbya. Then you could Hug It Out. Or, take them into your home???

Look at a map. Honduras is a LOT closer to Costa Rica and Panama - both safe and secure. Why aren't they going there?

No response???? Ok real explanation: The Repug-nates want illegals for work, the Demon-crates what illegals for votes. The solutions to this problem is very simple, it is getting these "smartest minds"..jajajajajaja, to agree that they are working for all Americans, and stop campaigning their entire careers.

Yep, I did that!!!
Whew, Glad I didn't use my 1st draft.....
How many Bleeding Heart Liberals would open their own home to Illegals? They should be forced to. That would change their attitude, and I mean Quick!

If illegal immigration continues at the rate it has been for the past 20-30 years.....
How long will it be before they are the Majority in America???

Frankie, the problem is congress, a bunch of personal program players that do nothing for the nation. This President does not take a salary, and works round the clock. Lazy ass congress receives a salary, works few hours, and accomplishes nothing. Some of these congress people I would not befriend, want as acquaintances, hire to clean my house, car or fish. Useless incapable people....WHAT have we become. i.e. AOC!!!

They do. Dangerous journey through Nicaragua. Costa Rica is being swamped with refugees from Nicaragua and elsewhere. Panama the same.

I Still think that they should be charged a substantial fee and let in and tracked, if they are proved to be good folks!! The way it is now we have 30 million illegals (adding 40,000 per month) that no body knows where they are.

Congress is who is responsible...They are Useless!!

It would never happen, but imagine if the US would go down there and take over those countries? Give them welfare, food stamps and free medical there instead of in the US?

But, Alas, I fear that Nothing Can or Will be done....due to an impotent Congress..

Looking to government for solutions is a waste of time. Don't hire illegals. No work, no money, they won't come here
