For some time I have used my debit card from an Az. bank to withdraw pesos. All worked well. Then I noticed a bit smaller fee. Even better. This last week I tried twice and got an
"unauthorized request" or something to that wording. I called my bank and everything was ok with my card and there should be no problem using it in Mexico.
This was at Banamex. Some years ago I was using Bancomer but then they stopped accepting my card at the ATM so I tried Banamex and it worked for a couple of years. Maybe they have changed their policy also.

CI Bancos were either empty or malfunctioning today but the HSBC ATM in Ley was working.

Being empty is not uncommon on the Sunday of a busy weekend.

It seems like it is only Banamex...Living in Miramar, I use the Ley Banamex ATM and it now refuses my American bank card.. Also the Banamex at Walmart.. Agree with Guzzi, Santander is no problem..  Reading other blogs, Barra de Navidad and Guadalajara, they are having Banamex problems..  After living in San Carlos, I always thought Banamex sucked, but it was convenient............

Banamex still sucks - It's hard to even pay my trust. But I will say even after a good 10 yrs acct at Santanadr - they are sometimes out of money.
