I have friends coming to town and we would love to hike this area but not sure where to begin? There used to be a map? Does anyone want to join us next week?
Any information helpful.
It is just so darn pretty outside right now to stay inside. :)

If you drive past the San Carlos Plaza hotel, you will come to a bridge and very soon afterwards, there is a turnoff that goes pass the catholic building and then the turnoff the a ranch and the horse stables.  Stay straight on until you come to another dirt road where you need to turn right or left.  This is the old Catch22 road.  Turn to the right and go to Rancho Nuevo which is on the left.  The owner Delfino keeps a road that goes as close as you can get to the canyon.  He charges 100 pesos/person I think.  There are a couple of splits in the road but the one you want is called Herradura.  when you get to the end of the road, walk down into the arroyo and just keep going up the arroyo.  The waterfall is 45min to an hour from the parking spot.  In the canyon itself you will be climbing over boulders, etc so have good shoes.  You will need to climb up some tree roots and then cross on a narrow path to do the last 50 yards.
