Does anyone know if you can enter into Mexico by land (Mariposa) and travel to San Carlos area with a passport card vs. a passport book?  Everything from the US says you can enter into US from Mexico with it, but does Mexico recognize the passport card for land travel to enter into Mexico. A link from the Mexican government or number to contact would be appreciated.

the book and card are acceptable for land travel, you need the book for travel by air!

We have both passport versions. We usually use the booklet when entering Mexico and getting our Tourist Cards and use the passport cards when returning to the US.  The sensors positioned at the ports can read the cards but not the booklets so it speeds up passing thru the initial inspection because the agent already has our info in front of him.

Longtime resident, style="background-color: transparent;"Uh, Yes, we traveled by LAND since she has a travel "CARD", not a Passport.  No Problems in or out. I'm pretty sure Frankie made the distinction clear.

I did find one thing a little odd since she is still a Minor. ( 10 yrs) The Border going into Mex and at K21 didn't ask for additional paperwork such as a certified letter from her parents to travel out of the Country.  When She was 6 yrs old, I had to provide a written certified letter from her parents acknowledging me as her grandmother and permission for her to travel with me out of the Country.
Guess they do not require that any longer.   I certainly can understand why they would ask.
