I meant water in the pipes:).  The water on the Caracol has been off this week, I am told.

Thanks for the heads up.  We plan to take off from Tucson Monday morning (Oct 15), and take 15 the whole way.  We are hyper vigilant with our defensive driving practices.

By "most dangerous part of visiting San Carlos" I'm assuming you mean because of other drivers and road conditions?

Yep. The roads and the drivers.

I have not been down in eight months, but sometimes the way the locals sign and mark the road construction, especially detours, can be haphazard.

Maybe the most dangerous aspect is along areas where 15 goes to one lane in each direction, in construction zones. Most of the accidents I have read about, in the last few years, have been caused by people passing in those zones. Be extra vigilant in those areas. And not just the oncoming traffic. Be mindful of crazies passing you, traveling the same direction as you. Give them plenty of room to get back into traffic.

Come on down and relax and enjoy. Don't know where you're coming from, but try to avoid Phoenix and Tucson at night, Denver, the same and Chicago at all times? Bring your brain and suntan lotion. Ron

Apparently some don't think so!!, You can not even begin to compare the population and the SAFETY of the POLICE and their ability to help you. They are fighting to help themselves!, tiny little Guaymas or San Carlos is no comparison. There just isn't any comparison. (Apples  n Oranges )  Your right, THIS IS  A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE:)

Extremely lengthy OP-Ed pieces in Portal de las Noticias, over the last few days. The writer(s) seems to use many metaphors that makes a translation difficult to understand. But the bottom line seems to be that some are not in favor of putting the Guaymas police force under a person from the Navy. "They" feel that it should have been someone from within.

Also included are the previous allegations that the police force is inadequately funded and trained on many fronts and this leads to a situation where their own personal safety and economics are put ahead of providing public security.

There is also mention of the other two Sonoran security officials who resigned for "personal reasons"; the Attorney General and the Head of Public Safety. The article seems to say they were basically forced to quit because of the recent attacks on police and another incident involving the infamous "Pancho Platas" incident.

A translator will be necessary here. There are also links to related articles at the bottom of this page.

Its an editorial opinion piece covering the Pena era lamenting the governments political appointments of untrained friends to security positions within the state and federal govenment. Although clearly written, there is no new information or insight offered.
