just a hypothetical synopsis and not trying to be antagonistic!

what if you are unconscious on a weekend when our local doctors aren't as available and are transported to the hospital!

in a life or death situation "TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE"!!!

do you have a medical bracelet as used in the USA to inform emergency personal???

it is unfortunate that the medicare we all paid into is not accepted globally!

If I were unconscious, there would be no way of me contacting anyone. However, I do have a med alert necklace with my alarm company- Cyberco. If they get an alarm from me and cannot get me on he phone, they call Rescate and also find my doctor. I am sure that not all contingencies can be met, but I am fairly well equipped to meet most contingencies.

Well, once your parents are gone then you are next in line, as I. Ballena has, without a doubt, the most comprehensive plan that I have heard of in Mexico.

During all of my years in SC I have seen so very many folks having to return to live NOB because of health issues.

Johnmoore: YES !!! Have a plan is the best advice I can offer. I am widowed and live alone. I do have "family" locally but they are not always available. So, a plan for contingencies is very important. I strongly recommend doing an "Advance Directive". These are written instructions to everyone who might be involved. For me, my instructions are to my doctor, my "family", my banker, and my real estate agent where I have a listing agreement that kicks in upon my death. My Advance Agreement is notarized in Mexico. My wife and I had one together that made things very simple when she got sick and when she died. Make sure that a beneficiary is named for the fidecomiso on your house and that you leave instructions in your Advance Directive for the beneficiary. For me, my real estate agent is instructed to find and pay someone to live in my house immediately upon my death and until the house is sold. This minimizes the chance of squatters taking over or your housekeeper moving in and stealing things.

I would guess that if one is that close to dying, then one could die before they could get the house. And maybe people in that situation should sell the house and rent, keeping the money as cash for med emergencies. But rent somewhere where there are no water supply issues.

Of course, each situation is different. The plan that I presented suits me fine. But, maybe it will help others to think about planning for emergencies and contingencies.

They may be close to clearing and preparing the lot for the hospital. Surveyors were at the site recently to flag the boundaries. Still waiting for final permits and then they'll start.
