there was a presentation tuesday at 5:00 PM at the guaymas governmental offices. a presentation to the advisory counsels of the San Carlos Nuevo Guaymas Comisario!

it was to advise us that San Carlos Nuevo Guaymas, Sonora is an applicant for "PUEBLO MAGICO" status. there are 90 applicant pueblos for 7 positions!!

very competitive, but we are being professionally represented by Jaime Agruel "director urban development" and Juan Cordero "economic development".
if we win this bid it will result in many federal government funding programs for us!

we where also shown plans for our new "plaza" which would be located in front of the San Carlos catholic church!! it looked appealing and a great concept!!

this is an extremely important for us and everyone's full support is wanted and needed!!!

our new comisario Salvador Macias is a mover shaker, and is showing us his ability to wrangle through the bureaucracy!!!!

I think EZ is talking about no city garbage pickup by PASA. But if you are going to pick up garbage to be a good citizen, could you stop by my place?

Are they going to repurpose the closed grocery store and the unused Caballero buildings next to that plaza?

Is one of the requirements of being a PUEBLO MAGICO that the town not have enough water for residents? 😕

Or do they choose towns without water and give them sufficient water for residents as part of the MAGIC?

Does having the PUEBLO MAGICO status mean we will get garbage pickup as part of the MAGIC?  Or paved roads, or at least improved roads?

What about all the ugly, half finished buildings??  Where is the MAGIC in this appearance?
Will they tear them down or finish them to beautify San Carlos?  Anyone that drives through this town can see the issues.
It would indeed be MAGIC if San Carlos wins a spot.

you all have valid points!! these issues where mentioned and discussed at the meeting!!

federal monies that can be obtained reaching "PUEBLO MAGICO" status will address these issues!!

infrastructure issues will be addressed, there was even talk that the above ground electrical lines will be placed underground!! WOW!!!!

your criticisms are welcome, but lets not throw in the towel before the fight starts!

this maybe the cure for our ill's!!!

This is Arthur C. Clarke's Third Law - Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Kind of like Tinkerbelle's magic wand and pixie dust. Let there be water !!

"It takes a carpenter to build a barn, but any ass can kick it down." We are all aware of the issues that our community faces. How about we do not kick down the barn that is being erected as a means to a solution for some of these issues.  Quit whining!  It is so boring and ugly.

One might consider that achieving magical status could actually bring in lots more people.........which, in turn, will require more water, better roads and trash service. How has that gone in the past?

More barns fail from neglect than from the hooves of asses.

Come to think of it, how can San Carlos achieve this status when we are really a part of Guaymas? We aren't our own pueblo. If there is monetary investment for achieving magical status, what's to prevent Guaymas from taking the money and using it for their own infrastructure, like they do with our taxes?

Here is a wiki on Pueblo Magico. Look at one of the main criteria in the paragraph above the listed criteria. The town must have over 20,000 people. There is no way San Carlos qualifies for that unless Guaymas is included.

WATER-WATER-WATER.

Everything else can be done in time. But, A steady, reliable, source of Water is the Utmost Necessity NOW!!!

110% of the focus of the Governing Body needs to be Water First! Why waste resources on a list of Fluff projects when we need WATER!

Once we have plenty of water.....Then and Only Then Spend resources on other things.

I AM SHOCKED THAT ANYONE WOULD WANT TO BEAUTIFY ANYTHING WHEN WE ARE DYING FOR WATER!!!

SI O NO

hook, qualification was addressed at the meeting, originally guaymas applied!

there are documented "pueblo magico" that are satellite communities of large cities!!!
parts of guaymas will be used for their historical contribution!

a bank account has been opened for funds destined for san carlos!! there has been an audit committee formed to monitor the incoming and out going funds!

this is an admirable attempt at finding funds to address the serious issues concerning our community!

the people presenting and the people attending are all aware of the issues in san carlos and guaymas!!

everyone wants the issues mentioned in some of the posts in this thread addressed and corrected!

i am proud to be a member of the residents and community leaders who are at least trying to do something!

we will all be able to hold our heads high in success or failure, because we where the ones who tried to do something!!
