Is this a new development?  So a friend of mine just received some news after trying to sell his boat that boats can only have two TIPs on them, after that, they will not be allowed additional TIPs for that specific boat?
Is this true?  I know many boats have been bought and sold more than twice in Mexico with new TIPs allowed each time.
It concerns me because I have a boat that that is on it's third TIP (I am 3rd TIP holder of this boat and this could affect me.  Is this a new way to get more $$ from us by establishing this rule and then a new "fee" to allow extensions or additional TIPs when a boat is sold and possession takes place in Mexico?  Just so we can keep our boats in Mexico spend our $$ down in Mexico?  I can't read Spanish to the level required and have not found an English version of the most up to date "rules" on TIPs.
I love Mexico, but this sounds troubling....  Anybody have recent information regarding this?  This comes straight from Banjercito and a specially placed phone call at Banjercito to "someone in charge" that spoke excellent English directly to my friend.

Update: So it looks like we found out what the actual rule is, but will still take some convincing down in Guaymas. So it appears Mexico allows a total of two TIPs per each owner of the boat. After 20 years, if you still want your boat in Mexico then you have to import it. If you sell your boat and the new owner wants to have a TIP in Mexico, he/she can have two TIPs on that same boat as well. Seems very generous and logical to me, but sounds like it needs to be brought to the attention to the good folks at Banjercito in Guaymas. I knew there had to be a logical explanation.....
