Hi all -
I'm based in Tucson and have spent a little time in San Carlos, but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations or warnings about camping on the beaches north of San Carlos.  I'd love to take the truck down and do a little remote camping.  Have spent lots of time exploring Baja, but not so much the mainland side, so any help greatly appreciated, thanks!

I've spent extensive time camping up there, from just past La Manga up to El Colorado. never had any worries or fears about anything. safer than Baja IMHO. just take the usual precautions against petty pilferage. it is a long drive to stock up on ice etc if you're up by El Colorado. 4WD not necessary but even with 4WD and airing down, be very careful about venturing onto the beaches.....deep soft sand in a lot of places. sunk my Taco to the skid plates once. never had any issues with jejenes or skeeters.
