Marina Seca e-mailed me to say my old boat is considered abandoned. It has almost 2 years worth of unpaid storage. It has sat unused since 2015. I sold it back then to a guy in AZ. No title was issued for it since we don't have them in Colorado. The trailer is titled but it hasn't left dry storage except for launching in probably 15 years. Marina Seca says as far as they're concerned it's still in my name. I contacted the buyer and he said he has given up ownership for it and made it known to m seca. The TIP status is unknown.

I'm thinking of making an offer to settle things with m seca but the ownership issue seems questionable. I know how things work here with HID numbers and VIN but … Mexico?

I miss San Carlos and my old boat and would love to have it back. I'm just wondering if I'm missing something and setting myself up for a massive headache. I'd have to find out if it's still in decent enough shape to make it worth while.

In one hand I think it's all about the agreement with marina seca. On the other I think sailing a stolen boat in the sea of Cortez might get me in a jam.

I'd really appreciate some word from anyone who's had a similar issue.
