Hello, I am looking at bringing my 27 ft sailboat into the Sea of Cortez (from California) and putting her into dry storage for a year or 2 while I wrap up some business here in the states. I have seen and worked in Marina Seca San Carlos and think it is top notch. Does anyone have any experience with Marina Seca Guyamas? Their website lists them as having all the modern goodies and security, and are about $30 per mo. less than San Carlos, but might that be false economy? There is an old post in this forum about them when they first opened but I am hoping to hear more recents news. Are there any other dry storage facilities in the Sea of Cortez that are even in the ball park as San Carlos/Guymas? Seems Cabo and La Paz are as much as I am paying in CA. Escondito is nice but didnt seem to have any storage when I was there last year. Any news of a change there? thanks, kyle

Hi, Our boat is going into the Marina Real workyard for a month. It is quite a bit cheaper than the Marina Seca. Besides you can do your own work or hire who u want in the Marina Real and u can't hire who u want in the Marina Seca. In the Marina Seca if u are working on the boat, u go into the work yard and pay extra. 27 foot Marina Seca on a year base is $10.00 a foot times 11 months for your boat. (We just got the rate slip.) Electricity is charged extra in excess of a certain amount. Oh, oh, are u on a trailer? That is a different rate. on Trailer: 2.50 dollars times feet times month. Marina Seca in Guaymas is 117 dollars a month for year round. Guess what, I can't find right now the Marina Real Dry Storage prices, but they are significantly less and that is where we are going to move our boat, probably next week. Our 31 foot Mariner is in Ranchitos here in San Carlos and as soon as our Perkins diesel is rebuilt, which may be done today, we are moving the boat over there to Marina Real. Good luck and write about anything we could help with. Janet and Clint Now at Marina Real

Marina Real - slip price in the water is 10/foot/month Dry storage for 27 on trailer 65 a month Dry storage without trailer 4.5 / foot month Haul out about 110 each way Trailer only 25 month dry storage ( while boat in water ) Work yard ( in addition to slip or storage ) 5 a day, water and compressed air at all bays. Pay 11 months slip get one free - best check with office for specials :-) as may well be others. Above based on what I am paying or have paid in last year for same size boat. Should be close enough - Late edit - just read their web site ( nothing like not reading post above ! ) and noticed a minimum of 135 for dry storage without trailer. If you are going to store for couple years might be with seeing if they would "haggle" a bit. Last edited on Fri Feb 17th, 2012 05:15 pm by Ian948 |
