Decisions Decisions.

I thought I had it all figured out. A couple times. I bought a Hatteras 37C back in early May. Then got an off of a consulting gig in Mexicali Mexico for 3 months. 11 working days and it's back to the boat on the great lakes. Taking her on her own hull to Galveston Tx. then Truck.

Fell in Love with San Carlos and planned on Marina Real. As Diesel prices began to fall $2.25 in Cal vs over $4.00 in San Carlos I was leaning towards LA. So Truck to Ensenada for a bottom Job and on to LA.
Well Now Diesel is not as big a difference so 2 questions.

What is diesel going for in San Carlos?
and second any recommendations  of who I can contact for a reasonable quote for a bottom Job? Baja Naval is $1200.00 for sand to barrier coat and 2 coats of paint. My choice.

I live in Phoenix so drive is about the same.

thanks in advance for thoughts
Mike

Still about the same. 3.88-4.00 a gallon depending on the exchange rate.

Before I took that boat to LA, I would do some checking on how CA would tax the boat, 4 dollar diesel, mite be cheap compared to the taxes in CA.

$1200.00 that's a great Price to do the Bottom Paint .it would cost twice that much here in PHX, as far as SC or Cali.
in cali slips cost more a mouth, Fuel cost about the same  ?? some what. you have to go feather out to get to the fishing Grounds using more fuel !!, it is a closer Drive , yes !
SC fuel still about the same, THE BIGGY Is you can cover more of the fishing Ground's use less fuel and be home be for Dark, and you don't have to leave in the Dark to go fishing, yes it's a longer Drive to San Carlos , you just stay longer

You might price the bottom paint at Marina Seca in San Carlos...Phone them for a quote.
They have the rig to truck US to San Carlos too.

Bingo.  The tax man likes to walk the docks, jot down names, put an estimated value on, and send out bills.  I wouldn't have a boat in Cali over pretty much anywhere else.

Also, if you're up for an adventure, get the bottom done in Cali, splash it, take the downhill ride around the baja and come back up.  That would be a great time!
