Great billfish bite. Some dorado and footballs. Still relatively cool.

EZ Money refers to the fact that taking an exhausted fish gasping for breath out of the water (where it can breath) into the boat (where it can't breath) for pictures dramatically reduces the survival rate.  "Swimming off" is not proof of survival--they die later if the sharks don't get them.

Now you've got your photo (that first sail is actually a nice one) so from now on good conservation practice would dictate to drag them by the bill in the water along side of the boat for 30 seconds, cut the leader at the hook and release them.  The scientists tell us that about 95% survive if treated that way and you might catch them again!

Very correct. They actually try to make pulling them out of the water illegal in Costa Rica. I am guilty too, as are many. I certainly don't encourage it. I only pull out small fish if they really need a photo. Not sure about the slime factor, but my greatest concern is spinal injury and the fins. It's scary enough watching guys try to get their hooks back. Big old breeding fish need to stay in the water. Swim them at leader, quickly look at the camera guy, and cut them free. Seconds matter in all aspects of the fight and release, and if you are having to swim your fish you should be questioning your tactics.

Good article in the San Diego Union.  This Yellowtail Bite has been on for the last 7 weeks or so.  Blue Fin are also in close (Well close for us is 40 Miles).  Just way to much bait (Red Crap and Anchovies) in the water, but when they go, man they go off.  Few over 200lbs caught on the kite.

I haven't heard a thing, but will be back Wednesday and out Thursday and /or Friday. Last shot actually looked cooler, but a little hard to believe.

I will be down tomorrow too and fishing through the first part of next week. It does look like it has cooled off a few degrees. We'll take it. See what we can find!
