I have been told that at the beginning of the season when the fishing was off the walls, the pangas would go out front and gillnet 5000lbs of yellowtail in the middle of the night. This occurred for 3 weeks. Anyone have any info on this?

Says who? No. I never see them get anything in those. Maybe a few rays and turtles. I heard of a few pangas getting a half ton handlining.

I wasnt here and I dont know about the amounts, but there were pangas there on many nights, at that time. Or so I was told.

Hook, glad to hear that you heard the same story. I was told 5000lbs but who knows exactly. The person that told me went to guymas and reported it but they just laughed at him. Sad indeed. Looks like the corvina farm out of lamanga is going to be a dorado farm in a few short months.
