my husband and I are visiting San Carlos End of July thru first week of August. We would like to surf fish and go out on a charter. Does anyone have advice on local charters? What's the average cost? What is in season right now? I have a dream to catch a bill fish. Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you

If it's just the two of you, you cant go wrong with any of the "Big Three" for fishing knowledge combined with affordability. Two of them are listed on this link: Team Margarita Sportfishing and Catch 22 sportfishing.

The third one is Pancho, Pancho Sportfishing. Abel, the captain, can be contacted at the cocina economica near the fountain in San Carlos. Breakfast and lunch only, closed Wednesdays, maybe the best sit-down food value in town. I dont have contact info for him; maybe others will post.

I agree with Hook. Those 3 are all experts and will work hard to get you fish. You'd have to check with them on price but I believe they are around $60-70 an hour.

Check with them for a current report when you get down. You should have a decent chance of catching billfish this time of year, but it is fishing! You have to go out and cross your fingers!

First protocol of a true fishing enthusiast: never ask "how much?", but always ask "how many?" or "how big?"

Thank you all for your quick response. We are so excited to finally get away from home and be at the ocean.
