The story is the fish was caught by Jim Kearns(son in law of Dick and Debbie Burris) and Captain Sergio Chavez on the boat Pura Vida.  The fish weighed more than 220 and estimated by some experts to be closer to 300 but since the scale only went to 220, it is an educated guess.

The rest of the story is Dick Burris hooked the fish and passed the rod to Jim, son in law.  Jim fought the fish for 2.5 hours over a 3 mile fight.  Sergio Chavez managed the angler and Dick managed the boat.  Jenni, daughter, helped gaff it.  A real team effort.  Team Pura Vida.

So pleased for Pura Vida - only a shame not a couple days earlier , for sure that would have won the Funfish category !

Having missed an award Sunday by 2 lbs - this was gratifying to see.

Great job Team Pura Vida !

:)
