Caught 12 12" makerel on a small popper at Sunset which was a first for me. Hopefully that will convert themselves into grouper tomorrow morning.

Fishing has been hit or miss, so i have heard. A marlin was spotted the other day but wasn't hungry. Wouldn't even hit LIVE bait!!!! Everything is starting to warm up now and anything can happen. I'm sure the mahi and sail fish will be here by mid May. Kip traveled to the other side with not one fish seen. But had a better day getting a few on. Lets just hope this water stays cooler than it has before and get some nice patches of Sargasso weed.

Ok thanks. I caught a small yellow tail this morning but other than that haven't had much action. A couple days ago I caught three big jack cravelles then yesterday a barracuda.

A few half decent calicos in the deeper spots today. Lost one big cabrilla or Baya at Eagle Rock. Didn't hear anything from the Island or Pando.

The fish have not spawned yet, but even the small jig fish are still so full of bait that they are not agreesive on anything but live bait, and they are even finiky about mullet.

I went to Pando for the afternoon bite for nada, crossed to the island for the same result.

They will come on, but we need more gamefish, mackeral and squid to eat of all this bait for it to improve, aqnd theat may not happen. I suspect the main body of fish are north of Tiburon Island, Angel and Puerto Libertad, as is their custom this late in the year.

Seiners are now working anchovies, as their availability is great also, and I suspect that they have already canned all the sardine they can store and sell, and as always, those hulls are all working up north too.

Bottom fishing is the way to go until things pick up, imo, and I have seen 4 marilin so its time to order ballyhoo too.

PQ Almada, I caught them near the rocks a little ways north of the opening to Miramar. Since I have a smaller boat I could get closer to the shore so I was in maybe 12 feet of water if not less.

we scored 26 last weekend in 2.5 days of fishing.  we were 200 miles to the north.  afternoon water temp was 70 degrees.  4 largest fish were 18 - 24 lbs.

great results compared to what we are doing in SC.  Are you launching from Puerto Libertad?

Nice big calicos today. Saw a few flying fish. Marlin manana. Sounded like a few started biting again at the Island.
