Looks like some great fishing down there right now. Hopefully it stays the same through the end of the year when I get back down!

I am down in Oaxaca for a couple of months, will be back in middle of January and I can hardly wait to get Hector down there with me and make my arms tired pulling all those fish in.
I may get too excited and have to drop into Puerto Escondido to satisfy the urge to catch something. About six months ago I was in Puerto Vallarta, Huatulco and Puerto Chiapas and got no fishing done at all. I am going to have to turn in my fishing card at this rate. Keep up the "catching."
Save me a spot Fernando.
I am obviously on your boat, the fat guy sitting. I think the skinny guy standing next to me was trying to learn to catch yellowtail with us, but I could be wrong.

short, fast and furious boils, they were not staying up long and most of the boils were small, 2-4 fish together or just one fish chasing bait, we had many chances but it was hard to get a look from them. We hooked up 5, landed 4. Out of the 5 strikes 4 came on small poppers and 1 on a 3" casting jig

Brian,
I have hooked 14 fish in 3 - 1/2 day trips, all on the Tady A1 surface jig (seafoam green and white/black and white) retrieved slowly on top. Almost 1 hookup per every 2 boils.

For charters I use the penn battle, the fin nor lethal and I just ordered one of the new tsunami shields, they look great and offer some great features for $100 dlls reel...can't wait to try them. If this tsunami shield reel delivers half of what it advertises it will an awesome reel for the monay and I will be switching to that one.
Personally I use the Tica Talisman and van staal vm series when fun fishing, not for charters

what are your thoughts on the new Daiwa BG 6500? seems like a pretty good $100 reel.
