Has anyone taken the Mexican drivers license test in Guaymas? My friend got his license in the Baja and didn't have to take a test at all. Also we are renting and the utilities are not in our name. Do they require the electric bill or can we take our lease and a copy of the electric bill with the owners name which is also on the lease. I am a permanent Mexican resident if that makes a difference in your comments - thanks for any guidance you can give me!

You need a Dr certification that says you are healthy for a licence from a local Dr (Simulares N Guaymas $35pesos), your existing drivers licence, your residence card and the lease and electric bill.I would also take a passport just in case.

We didn't have to take a test when we went about 6 months agoto the P station on the hwy going south into Guaymas on the right. They said if you already had a license that it wasn't necessary.

If you are retirement age the licence is half cost

You only need the Dr. cert if you are over 70 or 72 or 74 - forget which it is. No need for a prev DL in my case.

Best way is to go to the station and ask what they want then return to that same person.

Both my wife and I are under 70, speak fluent spanish, and did this 6 months ago. They were very nice.

And I said current drivers license if you don't want to take the test.
