It is crazy to me that this stuff is happening in Lobos, such a small little quaint fishing village. I guess some narco likes it there too. We would go there to dive and spearfish grouper and yellowtail. What a bummer.

The last time we were there pangas were running back and forth from a larger ship (we never saw it) ferrying drugs to shore two nights in a row. We had a friend that was raised there and he said that when they do this, lots of times they make a resident of the little fishing village an offer they can’t refuse to have them drive the drugs from Puerto Lobos to Caborca. I asked our friend what happens if they refuse, and he said they can’t refuse. I asked if we were in any danger and he said as long as we ignored it and didn’t seem interested we weren’t in danger. Despite this, I didn’t have a warm fuzzy feeling about it, and haven’t been back since. Paving the road in there was the beginning of the end, it made it far to appealing to move drugs through there.
