My only issue with the news links you post, is that they are not in English. There are many of us that do not read Spanish and the translation sources suck, leaving one less knowing than before. I know that we also have people here, like Frankie, and others (I think) are quite good in there Spanish skills....some I would trust to translate accurately some I would not. Once these issues hit the presses, our SC forums, we can then go to the streets, friends and neighbors to get most of what there is to know..

The above having been said, it is my hope that there won't be any more stories of this nature and things calm down in the area.

trueblue, it has only been recently that you have toned down your diatribe! your postings of inaccurate and  terrible "google translations" had no personal repercussion for you, yet San Carlos will takes it's toll for years!

"usually" you are always giving us your personal "commentary"! it can be verified on every thread you have posted on!

on a personal note to the other readers and residents! if you have lived here for more than a few years and don't have a mediocre knowledge of the Mexican Spanish language, reading, writing, and verbal communication skills, WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM!!

Thanks for reconsidering Bart.

I do realize many do not speak Spanish and I try and give a summary but it takes time to do a full translation and I don´t think I owe that.

Thank you to those, including me, who post the links to the articles. For those of us who do speak Spanish, it is much better to read the article than just the google translation or someone else´s interpretation and the links make it so easy.

Are 3 articles really necessary?
Do you think our members do not know these outlets exist?
Don't you have anything better to do than troll for whatever bad news you can find?
this was good advice! i rebooted the "code red" thread, so all can see how extreme posting can be abusive, misleading and harmful to San Carlos!!!
i am not suggesting anyone be edited, banned, stiffed, ONLY FOR THIS POSTER TO CONTEMPLATE GOOD JUDGEMENT!

The press in Mexico has always been yellow, trying to sensationalize stories. Every year the soccor team gets built up to tear them down as one example.

After all the news about all the cartel deaths became world news during the Calderon era, the industry guys that backed Pena Nieto's candidacy, admitted that the PRI was paying them off to "quiet" down the stories to make the Presidnts men look like they were doing a better job as violence raged. This included the owners pf the TV stations too.

Now that AMLO has taken away the Press "subsidy" its hard imo to get a handle on what is really true, political, or just plain untrue, and sometimes I think the newspapers are trying to pressure him into resuming payments.

So while I think the translators do get it wrong, what is being reported in the first place in spanish and english is the real problem as no one stops the presses to corroborate stories before they are published, and often the real first hand accounts flying around on Facebook in spanish tell the real stories, not the official ones like how they got away, but that the police are combing the area, as usual.

So not believing a lot what you hear until things shake out for a couple of days is often good advice in Sonora, imo.
