Can't about the sulfur content but if you haven't been here in a while, you might not know that 1/2 or more Pemex stations have become Arco, Shell, etc. and don't have to sell Pemex products so lots of product is imported from the US.

According to the Sancarlosboard.com all ARCOs in Mexico have ULSD. It is said three in Guaymas have it, and I am not sure abut the ARCO in San Carlos

I am sure about the Arco in San Carlos. They sell NO diesel of any kind.

An attendant at the Arco selling diesel that is the closest to San Carlos (as you head to Guaymas) says their diesel is ULSD and is refined in Texas, not Mexico.

Just be sure and fill up in Nogales, ARIZONA. Diesel is much cheaper in Arizona than anywhere down here. Has been for about four years, at least.

I have newer diesel truck. One random tank of non ULSD isn't gonna hurt you. And as Frankie says, you can make it easy from the border to SC on a tank of gas, so don't worry about Hermosillo.

BTW, you can go searching off the freeway for cheaper diesel in the Tucson area, but it wont be much cheaper than the Circle K right off the Mariposa exit in Nogales. So convenient. Always busy, though.

CBedd, very timely post as I have been waiting for many years for ULSD to be available near San Carlos. Sounds like that day has arrived? Please post again after you've made the trip to confirm that low sulfur diesel is available....as I also have MB diesel now and would like to bring it down!:)

I always use Diesel Kleen additive when using diesel bought in Mexico. My mileage drops about 15% without it.

Which one? The gray bottle or the white bottle?

15% is a lot. Do you think it is because the cetane numbers are lower in the diesel in Mexico?

I fueled my new F-350 in Tucson and drove it to San Carlos. Spent a week and drove back through Tucson on one tank. The Arco going into Guaymas has ULSD. I have not seen anyone carrying DEF though.

I use the gray, its for over 30 degrees the white is for colder temps. I travel to Alamos most trips and fuel up in Navojoa on the way down. Maybe the diesel is from Pemex down there. I will top off back in Guaymas or Hermosillo on my return trip. I am driving a Dodge 2500 I get about 20.5 mpg on way down and drops to around 17.5 on way back to states.
