It’s surprising to me that we have any police officers at all...how do people get the courage to wear the uniform?
So very sad for these men and their families.  I still think of those 5 officers who lost their lives last year in Guaymas, and pray for those families.
Now more grieving families and funerals...

update; i am hearing conflicting reports as to whether the comandante perished.
i had heard that he had! there are also reports that he was in a stabilized condition, and one that the rumor had been stated of his death to securely move him to a different facility!
one of the original reports stated he had been hit twice in the abdomen and in the leg.

007, gringos do have the misfortune of becoming collateral damage, yet they will never be a target unless they participate in illegalities, or somehow piss off the cartels. Why, I ask, would the cartels want to kill their most needy sales group???? (THE GRINGOS)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This story says the new patrolman with only 9 days on the force who was driving took 8 bullets and died, while the Comandante was hit once, prior to being moved to Hermosillo for medical attention.

When sicarios kill policemen its usually a plata o plomo tactic to get them to turn a blind eye. Our guy didn't take the money.

When sicarios kill other sicarios or local dealers, its usually a turf war, imo.

I talked to a MX woman a little while ago who says Humberto is her ‘compadre’, and confirmed he is now in a coma and it doesn’t look good.
She said they are trying to raise money for surgeries for him, but I don’t know who is collecting.
The whole situation is so sad.

I also saw 7 Policía Federale trucks arriving in San Carlos this morning as I was leaving for Guaymas.  So it looks like they intend to make a Federal presence here during Semana Santa.

Its a show.

The federales with their helicopter, the Navy with their boat, the Marines with their Machine Guns, The PJE with their leaflets, the Red Cross collecting donantions, The CEA trailer and off course some loud music to back up the fiesta our Guaymas Officials are hosting for Hermosillo and Obregon.
