For me, one of the great joys of visiting any Mexican seaport town is shopping in a central seafood market. Good examples are the ones in Mazatlan and especially Ensenada, BCN.

It was disappointing to learn that Guaymas didn't really have this when I moved here 11 years ago. Especially since the area is renowned for seafood.

Then, four years ago, they began building the permanent stalls on the malecon. Those were going to be provided for fishermen to sell fish, or so the story goes.

Well, four years later, nothing doing. Construction stopped probably two years ago. OK, things take longer in Mexico. But this is approaching unbelievably long.

Now comes word in El Portal that a Federal official associated with the Morena party wants to begin an audit to see where the announced 14 million pesos went. The article says the place wont open until at least 2020.
