SStewart wrote: "the most powerful Sinaloa Cartel leaders live ALL around us." Interesting observation, where do these persons live?

They live where you'd expect. In EXPENSIVE, gate-guarded developments. There aren't that many in San Carlos.

The chopper appears to be concentrating on an area of the east Ranchitos, near the DIF building and the softball field. Tight circles in that area for the last 5-10 minutes.

Opinion Sonora has a few more details, though it is not saying it was a false alarm. But it does mention the involvement of a tortilla vendor in the whole story. Apparently this vendor was the one that supposedly witnessed the abduction.

Opinion Sonora now saying that no one has reported persons missing and that all is calm in San Carlos.

Sure liked the response, though.

So hard to know what to believe...so the Radar Sonora report of false alarm seems to be correct?

OPINION SONORA and RADAR SONORA. They really do try to get the truth out there.. Not always possible, But They do a pretty good job. You can also write and ask them questions in their app. Some reporters speak English and do try to respond as best possible.
I know a few of you follow different media sources. Maybe you can share which ones????

Bullshipper made a post in another area on the board about the Killing by assassination the Comisarrio in Empalme not long ago. That was sad.

The Policia ARRESTED some "GUY'S"  for this horrible crime.

R.I P. Sir.

Hearing word that there is a huge sweep of Guaymas going on today, by multiple police and military elements. Might be a good day to avoid Guaymas, if you can.

Anybody seen anything in San Carlos? We are, after all, a part of Guaymas.

Nothing about it on the "printed" news services. Could be just a rumor. They do happen.

Now hearing it may be going on in Hermosillo, too.

9-ton bust of illicit drugs discovered by a battalion of the Guaymas navy and others. You can read the article on the Viva board. GOOD JOB!

FYI: This this did make the news in the U.S. ( Good Job!)

After reading the article in its entirety, The homicide stats are not accurate at all, not even close in some cities. Then I realized what the Government is planning to do as far as the reorganization of all policing.. I have pos and Neg thoughts on that. Is it a good idea to give any Government that much authority??  Balance is very important.

Mexico has tried having the Military be a tactical part of the local enforcers before. That didn't work so well. However, this time Mexico's new President is looking to change its Constitution regarding what would result in a HUGE change and by far widen the military's function throughout Mexico.  What happens when a president and his military have that much control? I'm simply posing a question for discussion. SO Just asking?  There are many on here who have the knowledge and background to explain the pro's an Con's

Thoughts on the article would be interesting to hear. Maybe someone will start a new thread. I couldn't copy and paste the article. I'm sure someone here can.;)

Thank you Marigot :) The additional reading material is a bit further down the page. Click on the subject " about additional security measures to take place in several regions in Mexico."
We don't seem to be one of the places getting that additional help.
I believe the change to the new Police strategy started today.
**NO MORE MEDIA COVERAGE/ REPORTING after the shooting/killing of a reporter in Hermosillo yesterday.

Unfortunately, earlier today in Cabo, Narco activity in a bar on the busy strip. Killed several injuring several others. Drug-related would be a good guess.

That was in either Opinion Sonora or Radar Sonora last night. What's even more interesting is to listen to the everyday common responses from the people who live in Guaymas and Empalme! They sure are not confused who's in charge. VERY SAD..
