Howdy-

Plan to be making my first trip to this fine location mid winter.  Saw there was a decent looking health club that closed down after many years.  It had a lap pool for swimmers- one of my main interests.  Hoping it's been re opened or there are alternatives.  Ideally the club would have: lap pool, steam +/or sauna, decent weight room, a decent machine circuit and convenient location.  Anyone with information they can share?  Pricing or membership would be helpful as well.  Enjoy that sunshine.

Of course I could be wrong but I'm betting they mean San Carlos because they describe Tony's old gym perfectly.

Apologies for any confusion.  I meant San Carlos Mexico- about 5 hours south of Tuscon AZ.  I thought this forum was for that location.  Is there another SC in Mexico?  The gym mentioned, Tony's, closed or opened back up?

It's similar with Alamos.  There are two pueblos with the name Alamos in Sonora alone. Guess that happens when you name a place after a tree.

That 'new' gym (Athletic Club) has been established for more than a decade now. Nice to see them succeed.

Thanks Everyone-

Are you all just naturally helpful and friendly or it it the sunshine?  The athletic club looks like what the doctor ordered.  I'll make sure to study the map before heading south or asking for directions to SC so I don't end up in the wrong pueblo.  Been a few decades since I was south of the border.  Last time was a drive down the length of US 101 to Cabo around 1993, before that it was the Yucatan in the late 70s.

nah - it's an illusion :)

Road down is "almost" impossible to go wrong - the only real section that could wrong foot you is making the turn at the overpass in Hermosillo where you will want to go left for Guaymas but the turn requires you to turn off on the right feeder and then turn left under the underpass. ( Old San Sebastian Hotel corner )

Hope someone reading might have skills to post picture or google map .

Otherwise trip is much improved - :)

In fact, a gal I know said she made the trip in a record for her; 4.5 hours from Nogales, AZ. She was probably doing 75-80 in the long, straight desert stretches.

I love the new cement sections!!!

There is a much newer gym in San Carlos that is open as far as I know.  I don't go there so don't know any of the details other than where it is.
