Hey everyone.  Just wanted to send out a warning.  My husband and I went over to San Francisco beach yesterday to watch the sunset.  We parked our truck and walked over the little knoll to sit and enjoy.  About 10 minutes after we arrived we heard a few loud thumps and my husband said it sounded like someone breaking a window, he ran toward the truck and sure enough a man was jumping back into a waiting car and they drove away.  Windows were not broken but chipped and scratched up.  I am at fault, I did leave my purse in the truck with nothing in but chapstick and Kleenex but it was visible, my bad!!  Lesson learned.  Just be cautious.  The car was a white tsuru model, btw.

Thank you for the warning.  Sorry for your unpleasant experience and glad it was no worse.

It’s a good reminder to all of us to be vigilant and try not to tempt thieves.

Which side of the WALL were you on? The San Carlos side or the Delfin side?

I usually try and park at the top of the dunes, whichever side, so that my vehicle is visible from the shoreline. But this year, one of my vehicles is not 4wd, so that's not possible.

It isnt as nice an area as mid-SF Beach, but the area next to Triana has fairly firm sand out to where it is visible from Triana and the shore. Then, maybe just walk to the dunes area.

The mobile llantera guy is also right there and he has offered to watch my vehicle for me, but I have given him a fair amount of business over the last couple years, so he knows me. But it is another set of eyes over there. I think he is an honest person.

It doesn't matter where you are. Do not leave anything visible inside the car, that would tempt anyone. It only takes a few seconds to break a window, grab and run. Mexico, the states, it is all the same.

Sad to report that we just experienced a breakin of our vehicle on SF Beach this afternoon. This was at what has traditionally been the most popular parking area on the west side of THE WALL. They shattered a rear window but it did not break through and they fled. There was a greasy hand print on one of the front windows, too. Yes, it was the non-4wd vehicle and was parked back of the shoreline.

Nothing of any value was visible in the car, unless you count a typical 12v phone charger in a plug, an empty woven basket with no lid and an empty, see-through crate.

Nothing taken, as the window held.........until my wife drove off.
