I have used a personal check from a Wyoming Bank to deposit into my CI Banco account which is a CI debit card account. I buy and pay all bills with cash pesos taken from that account. It is arranged to allow a maximum of five thousand pesos per day withdrawal from their 2 automatic teller machines outside. If something comes up and more pesos are necessary, you can go inside the bank and withdraw to the limit of your deposit. Check transaction from my US Bank to CI Banco is normally 1 to 3 business days, so I assume electronic transactions. As Frank says, about the same time you use your card, the bank sends an alert, near instantly. Cards are now "chipped" and very safe. I have used their card from about day one when Daniel opened for business. Never a problem. Hope this helps, Ron

To avoid these hassles, I operate on a cash basis for all purchases, go to the ATM get cash, spend it, I have 2 exceptions, only use my credit card at Home Depot and Walmart exclusive, has worked perfect for a decade, I like a cash economy, pay with pesos for everything and no problems, no issues, join reality and be happy.

FYI, i deposited my NOB business check yesterday a 10:00 am, it funded today at 2:15 at a rate of 18.63/1
checks always give you the daily fed rate, a green back exchange you'll pay an exchange fee!

I also seem to recall they stopped doing that, but am not positive. I think that's why we went total ATM withdrawals directly from our US credit union a couple years ago.

I tried to deposit a check from my NOB account a few weeks ago. They said they couldn't do it because the original US passport I showed them when I opened the account had expired. At least that's the way I understood it. Rather than go through the hassle of presenting my new passport and the paper work, I decide to just deposit Pesos out of the ATM.

As a long time resident of San Carlos (35 years), I have frequented the Pemex (now Arco) gas station for many years. I have come to trust the regular male gas attendants except one. These guys make sure that I see them zeroing the numbers on the gas pump. They work to show their  honesty. The one exception short changed me a long time ago. So, I ALWAYS make sure that I am dealing with those whom I trust. When the new employees arrived, I waited until one of the men who I trusted was available. Today I bought gas with one of my trusted men assisting me. I asked him about the issue that has been raised on this thread. He knew all about it and assured me that the lady's are now gone. I ALWAYS PAY CASH !!!!
