A little pricey but yes, you can get propane air conditioners and obviously propane refrigerators like those in RV or marine use. Solar can easily take car of lights and fans.

I wish Astrid continued success and I am glad she is staying. I think her new location is between the Catholic buildings and the old Rancho El Palmar.

Propane isn't as pricey as one would think. In the long run, they come out fairly economical. I have been there, and done that. Nice to be self sufficient.

Good morning to all. Yes Astrids' solar install can handle a 12,000 BtU (1 ton) high efficiency mini-split. She has enough batteries to be able to run a/c or heat at night. During the day the solar panels and off-grid inverter prov ide enough power to run all her loads, including water pump, lighting, outlets and ac or heat.

And what brands are available down here?
I am always sorely disappointed in the life span of my batteries down here. The summer heat just shortens it by about 20%, it seems.
And at what k/hr rate does CFE buy back the power?

Just a suggestion...if you start a new thread for all the solar questions, it will be much easier to find instead of posting to a thread entitled ‘old club med...’👍

Yeah, I realize that for Astrid.
Not interested enough to start a new thread. It is not an expense I would undertake.
