My property taxes are a pitance, so risking a lien placed on your property, or risk stopping schools, garbage and police service for chump change is not the way to go imo. As americans we cannot participate in elections, nor try to sway politics.

I have voted in Mexican elections before, but to my knowledge, no special or general election has ever been called for comissarios in my 40 years here.

The few Mexicans in San Carlos are mostly outsiders so we are truly dwarfed by the population of Guaymas, and they will decide our future until someone can convince the state that the Mexican residents deserve their own Municipio.

Ines may have a shot, but it will have to be accomplished through her personal and political connections in Guaymas, and not through the few voters and much less the expatriates here, imo.

We have to start somewhere. No one here is going to jail for signing a petition or have their property with a lien placed on it......the bank owns it.  Please someone answer the question as to when the petition will be picked up at the athletic club.

"Please someone answer the question as to when the petition will be picked up at the athletic club." Kiwi, I'll answer your question when you tell me what makes Ines qualified for the position........just kidding, I don't know anything about the pick up time of the petition.

Can you tell me if any of the others in the past were qualified.......no, they were not as to running a municipality.  I guess it's the live and learn job. Inez has a wonderful personality, is honest, a wonderful mother, good wife. She can be stern when needed and she is fair minded. The best part is that she has "common sense" which is so lacking in this generation. She is a leader but is not afraid to follow if need be. She is also good at melding the Mexican and American and Canadian cultures.  She is a good listener and that's a must for this job.  Can she get any where with the mayor and city council in Guaymas on San Carlos's behalf.....who knows. Sonora has a women govenor now so just maybe..........

I appreciate what you have said about Ines. I do not know her, nor do I know any of the other candidates. We have had some dedicated Comisarios in the past. Like LTR said, Ruben did a good job. Hector Lopez, way back and Sergio Martinez a little later, all did there best. It is a tough position.

Ines is intelligent, knowledgeable, honest, transparent, and gets things done. As far as political, is that what we really need? I think someone in that office that cares, would do wonders for our small town. Guaymas has always been self serving, so things may not change in that direction, but to have some one fighting for the common good of the community would be a delightful change. I have known her personally and professionally for over 15 years. I dare anyone to disagree with my opinion of her. I do not know of anyone who could say anything bad about this strong woman.
