We are coming for an extended stay, and would like to bring our Canadian whiskeys with us in the car. This is for our consumption only. Will we have a problem at the Nogales border?

I dont think you will have a problem at the border. We bring more than what is allowed all the time as allot of people do the same. The border crossing is looking for firearms and ammo. HappyTravels

I have heard from two different sources that you are allowed nine bottles of hooch. It doesnt matter if its wine or hard stuff. It doesnt matter if its a fifth or a 1.75 ml bottle as long as they arent ALL 1.75 bottles. It appears this is being enforced as a "per vehicle" limit. My sources on this are: -the former (current?) owner of Five Palms and -a friend who got caught with more that nine bottles. They were charges a tax of 97% of Aduana's assessed value OVER THE NINE BOTTLE LIMIT. That's my second hand experience. Last edited on Mon Feb 13th, 2012 01:29 am by Hook |

This is a little off topic but I spotted Canadian Mist at the Ley store in Guaymas the other day. I did not see a price. Canadian whiskey has usually been very hard to find here.

Canadian whiskey and scotch are now available in Guaymas and San Carlos. I agree with Bart, I believe the limit is 3 liters per adult person. Believe it is different flying in and/or driving in. If you get the green light you are free as a bird, but if you get the red light, not worth the worry or the consequences.
